The closing of the browser tabs brings the following worthies:
- It's too hard to build new power plants.
- Vaccines sharply reduce the risk of Covid transmission. A fully vaccinated person is 40% less likely to catch Covid from an infected person who has been vaccinated, as compared to catching it from an infected person who has not been vaccinated. Do unvaccinated people impose risk on the vaccinated? Yes. Just like how drunk drivers impose risk on sober drivers.
- Rapid antigen tests authorised for home use in Australia. None yet allowed in New Zealand.
- Marc Daalder finds a lack of preparation for Delta. Govt argues that nobody could deal with Delta. But lots of people, me included, for a very very long time were arguing for tightening up testing requirements in MIQ and at the border. Catching and isolating cases faster would have helped. But nobody wanted to hear it.
- If you're tired of looking at Alberta stats, here's Singapore. Doesn't take a lot of unvaccinated folks to put a big load on ICU.
